Based on the novel by Shirley Jackson, this black and white
movie is probably one of the scariest movies ever to be released.
A tale of four people who commit to an experiment in which
they stay in a haunted house to prove that the supernatural
exist, this movie doesn't rely on special effects or makeup
to induce terror.
Using psychological elements invoked by sounds and dramatic
camera angles, The Haunting is truly terrifying. Excellent
performances are turned in all around by the cast: Julie Harris,
Claire Bloom, Richard Johnson and Russ Tamblyn. If you want
a change of pace from all of the common, shlock horror flicks,
then look around and try to get this movie.
Also, don't confused it with the less than stellar remake
starring Liam Neeson. |
