Rockstar Announces Games for 2004 [12/18/03]

It looks like Rockstar and their parent company Take2 Interactive aren't sitting around for the holidays to end to make some news. The publisher or many popular titles, such as Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City and Max Payne look to add the former Capcom western-themed shooter Red Dead Revolver to their collection of games. As stated in the press release, Rockstar has picked up the title that was canned by Capcom and now plans on developing it for both the Playstation 2 and Xbox. Development will be handled by Rockstar San Diego (Midnight Club 2) and will be slated for a Spring 2004 release.

Quote from Sam Houser, President of Rockstar Games on the matter: “We are excited to announce this astounding new franchise which portrays one of the most fascinating periods of time in American history. Red Dead Revolver is Rockstar Games’ first foray into the wild west and the Rockstar production team is eager to deliver an engaging and visually stunning experience that pays homage to this era.“

Also reported in their Fourth Quarter and Fiscal 2003 Financial Results is the announcement that Manhunt will be brought over to the Xbox. Along with that will be a GTA entry on the Gameboy Advance, Destruction Derby Arena on PS2 and titles featuring the Robotech and Spy Vs. Spy properties.
