Silent Mobius is the tale of Tokyo in the year 2026, in which
"Entities", demons and evil spirits, have begun to overrun
the city. In response to this, a special police force consisting
of six women with special abilities (magic, technology, etc.)
is formed to stop the growing problem. Each story details the
life and past of one of these women while dealing with a case
during the present.
Silent Mobius shows similar influences from Masamune Shirow's
Appleseed, Dominion
and Ghost in the Shell.
Some scenes even seem to visually come straight out of Blade
Runner. The art is strong and consistent and action scenes
flow well. Characters all seem have a different look to define
them by.
The stories are well-written and involve good character development
and interaction without overwhelming the reader with theory
and high-tech. If you want to read a good action-oriented
story with a seasoning of magic and technology, Silent Mobius
is a good start. Consider this Masamune Shirow light. The
details are just as good, just not as heady. You don't need
a college degree to understand what's going on.
